It is challenging for a human to uncover the inherent laws which apply to their freedom to be happy and practice unconditional love of self when much of what they’ve been taught from the outside world is how to impress others.

the survival of any relationship requires unconditional love. When you decide you can no longer love unconditionally the relationship dies. How can you make the decision to kill something you love? First maybe, it has to start killing you. -anonymous

Definition of unconditional love: To continue to love endlessly without thought of self, and without thought of if the love is being returned or appreciated. To love without expectation of receiving.
It's easy in some cases but can be difficult in others. It's always healthy to love unconditionally but unhealthy when expectations are involved, especially if they aren't met. Can we love everything without expecting a return, which is something we've been taught shows appreciation for our love
